About Us
Fantastic – No Plastic makes sustainable shopping accessible to the people of Sale and beyond — kind to the planet and gentle on your wallet. We're your plastic-free alternative to the over-packaged products that fill supermarket shelves.
Nestled in the heart of Sale Moor village, we've been proudly serving our local community for nearly five years. From the very beginning, community has been at the core of everything we do — we're not just a shop, we're a gathering place for like-minded people who care about the world they live in. We love being part of this neighbourhood, supporting local suppliers, and helping our customers make small but meaningful changes to their everyday lives.
Our shelves are stocked with everyday essentials: rice, pasta, couscous, lentils, dried fruits, nuts, eco-friendly toiletries, breakfast staples, and a full range of laundry and cleaning supplies. Everything is package-free, yet completely convenient. Simply bring your own containers, fill them from our easy-to-use dispensers and jars with exactly the amount you need, then weigh and pay at the till. Every visit helps reduce single-use plastic waste.
The facts are stark: every piece of plastic ever made takes 450 to 1,000 years to decompose, harming wildlife, polluting our environment, and contaminating our food chain. Big changes begin with small choices — we're here to make sustainable living easy for everyone, while supporting local British businesses and protecting our planet.
What is a zero waste store? Zero waste stores are based on a set of principles focused on waste prevention, encouraging the redesign of resource life cycles so that all products are reused. The goal is for no rubbish to be sent to landfills, incinerators, or the ocean. We achieve this by offering a package-free shopping environment — customers bring their own reusable containers, or can purchase containers available in store. The result is that everyone buys only what they need, reducing both food waste and packaging waste.
Containers: You can bring absolutely any container you like — glass jars, Tupperware, ice cream tubs, boxes, paper bags, whatever works for you. We sell glass jars in store too if you need one. Plastic containers are also welcome: we're focused on eliminating single-use plastic, so if you're reusing an old takeaway tub or plastic container, it's no longer single-use and it's not going to landfill — that's exactly the point.
How much do you need to buy? As much or as little as you like. If your recipe calls for a pinch of salt, grab a small paper bag and take just a teaspoon. Want to try a new grain before committing to a full jar? Fill it halfway. It's your shopping, your choice.
Forgotten your containers? Don't worry — we offer a range of recycled paper bags and donated packaging in store, free of charge.
Allergies & intolerances: We stock several gluten-free and dairy-free products. Please be aware that as a refill store, we cannot 100% guarantee there has been no cross-contamination between products.
Pricing: Packaging adds an average of 15% to your shopping bill — by reusing and refilling, you only ever pay for your packaging once. We're able to offer competitive pricing because we buy in bulk, and you can buy exactly the quantity you need rather than being tied to pre-packaged supermarket sizes.
Everyone is welcome here. Whether you've just started thinking about reducing your waste or you've been zero waste for years, we don't judge. Anything you do to change your habits and help the planet is good by us — every small step counts and everyone will be treated with respect.
