Sumac is a deep burgundy-red spice ground from dried sumac berries — tart and lemony with a fruity, slightly astringent depth that makes it one of the most distinctive and useful souring agents in Middle Eastern cooking. A beautiful finishing spice that adds a vivid colour and a bright, citrus-like acidity to dishes without any liquid.

Sprinkle generously over hummus, labneh, and dips as a finishing spice, use in fattoush, tabbouleh, and Middle Eastern salads, rub over chicken, lamb, and fish before grilling or roasting, add to za’atar spice blend, stir into dressings and marinades in place of lemon juice, scatter over flatbreads and pitta with olive oil, or use in musakhan — the classic Palestinian roast chicken dish.

Price stated is per 10g if you would like more than 10g please select quantities in multiples of 10. For example for 50g select a quantity of 5. All food is supplied in recycled paper bags. Some food items contain natural oils which may be absorbed by the brown paper bags. These food items may be packaged in different bags or will be double bagged to prevent natural oils seeping through onto other items; however, this may still occur. Before dispensing, all our refill food is stored in airtight containers. We recommend putting your dried food items in airtight or semi airtight containers to retain freshness.
