Mancoco - Monsoon Malabar
One of the world's most distinctive coffees. Mancoco's Monsoon Malabar is a premium AA-grade coffee grown across the highlands of Southern India — in Mysore, Coorg, Hassan, and Chickmagalur — and processed using the ancient and extraordinary Indian technique of monsooning, producing a bold, complex, and utterly unique cup.
Tasting Notes: Bold, earthy, tobacco, spice, and milk chocolate.
The Process: After sun-drying, the green coffee beans are stored in open-sided coastal warehouses where moist tropical monsoon winds blow through freely. Over 2–3 months, the beans absorb moisture, lose much of their natural acidity, and swell to nearly double their original size — becoming pale, brittle, and transformed. The process begins with the monsoon season in June/July and completes by October, yielding a coffee with a heavy body, low acidity, and an intensely distinctive character unlike anything else in the world.
